Home
Dear Neighbors,
Home is where the heart lives and my heart has always lived in Gainesville, Florida. Although my career as an educator has taken me many places, Gainesville has and forever will be my home.
I was born in our home on S.E. 7th Ave and attended Williams Elementary School. As a little girl, I remember roller skating near the train station on Christmas mornings. I went to college here and gave birth to my first born right here in Gainesville. My grandfather, Thomas Hayes was the first African American mail carrier in Gainesville.
As you can see, I am no stranger to all that Gainesville has to offer its residents and the enormous potential we have to take our great community to higher heights.
My decision to run for city commissioner was not for politics but for passion. I am passionate about the community where I was raised and I have a heart to serve the people of Gainesville. We all want the same things for our city: economic growth that will enable every resident seeking employment to be hired, contaminant-free land and safe neighborhoods for our children and our elderly.
Thank you for visiting my website. I look forward to your support as we work together to build a better Gainesville for us all.
Sincerely
Yvonne Hinson-Rawls
